[Explanation of Asgard Co., Ltd.'s 'Smart Safety Helmet' exhibited at the 2024 Smart Construction Expo]
This year's Smart Construction Expo showcases industry efforts to improve awareness of 'safe workplaces'. DL E&C and POSCO E&C showcased safety beepers and smart safety helmets that can check the real-time location of workers to prevent accidents. LH is improving construction site disaster response and quality through integrated control using drones and artificial intelligence. The
'2024 Smart Construction Expo' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport opened on the 20th at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
The Smart Construction Expo, now in its fifth year, has served as a venue for promoting smart construction and communicating with the industrial ecosystem. This year, it will be held as a comprehensive event that changes the perception of the construction industry and shifts the paradigm under the theme of ‘Designing the Future with Smart Construction.’
On the first day of the event, many visitors were looking around the smart construction technology at the exhibition hall. Large and small machines were moving around everywhere, and many pieces of construction equipment greeted the visitors. It was possible to see the industry’s efforts to prepare for the future construction industry.
DL E&C introduced the ‘Safety Pager’. This machine provides real-time on-site information based on the IoT (Internet of Things). The purpose of its introduction is to effectively manage workers’ on-site access and work areas to prevent major accidents. It is possible to manage access to dangerous areas and remaining personnel, and if a worker performs unauthorized work, a danger alarm sounds immediately.
POSCO E&C exhibited the ‘Smart Safety Helmet’. It can transmit and save on-site video through the black box attached to the helmet, and can check the real-time location using the GPS (Global Positioning System). POSCO E&C explained that this equipment can be used not only at construction sites, but also in logistics, manufacturing, heavy industry sites, and airport control.
'Safeware', a company specializing in human protection airbags, unveiled a 'smart airbag vest'. If a worker falls on site, the accident detection algorithm detects the situation and immediately inflates the airbag. After the fall, the accident situation is transmitted to a designated contact through the emergency call function. The vest seen at the exhibition hall was large enough to give the impression that it would be able to sufficiently protect a falling worker.
LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) introduced an integrated control system utilizing smart technologies such as drones and AI (artificial intelligence). It collects and analyzes information from various sites in real time to improve disaster response capabilities and construction quality.
At the Smart Construction Expo, which will be held until the 22nd, in addition to the smart construction technology exhibition, specialized forums on roads, railways, construction, and safety will be held. A conference to share smart construction achievements centered on domestic and international field application cases is also scheduled for the 22nd.
